FABRIC & TRIM REQUIREMENTS
1cm (3/8") wide non-stretch fusible stay tape for stabilising the V-neckline. You will need approximately 2m (80").
Main fabric (138 cm / 54” wide):
• Sizes 4–12: 1.8 m / 2 yds
• Sizes 14–20: 2.5 m / 2.8 yds
The facing is block fused, so you will also need approximately 85 cm / 34” of fusible interfacing.
These fabric requirements are for the Penny Shift with facings. In the tutorial, I also demonstrate how to alter the facings into a lining if you prefer to make a fully lined version.
If you choose this option, you will need to purchase additional lining fabric.
Lining fabric (138 cm / 54” wide):
• Sizes 4–12: 1 m / 1⅛ yd
• Sizes 14–20: 1.5 m / 1¾ yd
FABRIC SUGGESTIONS
The Penny Shift Dress is designed for light to medium-weight woven fabrics with a soft drape. Linen is my favourite choice, but soft cotton, chambray, and viscose/rayon also work beautifully. If you'd like to use a more sheer fabric, you can turn the facings into a lining, which I show in the YouTube tutorial.
