Penny Shift Dress (Free)
This Penny Shift Dress pattern is designed for makers of all levels, especially beginners ready to sew their first garment. With its relaxed fit, flattering V-neckline, and timeless silhouette, it’s an effortless wardrobe staple designed for comfortable everyday wear.
The dress features a clean all-in-one facing finish at the neckline and armholes, creating a professional-looking finish on the inside.
Designed as a simple slip-on style with no zip closures, it’s an approachable introduction to garment sewing. Optional inseam pockets are included for those wanting to learn a new skill, but they can easily be left off for a simpler sewing experience.
The Penny Shift Dress is the final project in my 3-part Free Beginner Sewing Series, bringing together techniques learned in the previous projects while introducing a few new garment-sewing skills.
In the accompanying YouTube tutorial, I also demonstrate how to add waist ties and how to turn the facings into a full lining for even more options.
