Hi, I’m Tess.

I run TESS JEAN from my small studio in Ho Chi Minh City where I design, produce, and manage all aspects—from sketching the designs, sewing, through to handling marketing and customer service.

Having called Vietnam home since 2015, launching a resort wear brand was a natural reflection of my lifestyle here. Vietnam has a vacation-like vibe: it’s undeniably hot, all year round, and there’s a sense of escapism and optimistic energy that one gets when on holiday. I wanted to create pieces that embody this notion of vibrancy, leisure and appreciation for sun-drenched destinations. Thus, TESS JEAN was born. Modern, trans-seasonal styles in light, breathable fabrics that can be effortlessly worn whilst on vacation and as everyday wear.

When I first launched my label, I partnered with a local manufacturer to produce my first collection; however to ensure my quality standards were met, the trade-off was a high minimum order quantity. Uncomfortable with the idea of excess production, I decided to shift my business model to a slow fashion approach, and now I sew all orders myself. Since I love sewing, it felt like the perfect solution.

Shifting to a slow fashion model allows me to take a more thoughtful, intentional approach to design and production. I source small quantities of fabric from local markets in Ho Chi Minh City, always conducting wash tests to ensure quality before sewing. Frequent fit and pattern adjustments guarantee the pieces are both comfortable and wearable. And by sewing to order, I can reduce overproduction and unsold stock, minimizing waste and keeping the whole process more sustainable.
