FABRIC & TRIM REQUIREMENTS
• Main fabric: 1.0 m / 1 1/8 yds (112 cm / 44” wide or wider)
• Lightweight iron-on interfacing (86 cm x 25 cm / 34” x 9.5”)
• Optional base insert (22.5 cm x 6 cm / 9” x 2.5”) - EVA craft foam, thick felt, or leather
• Loop turner or 150 cm / 60” of string for turning ties
• Safety pin or bodkin (for threading the drawstring)
FABRIC SUGGESTIONS
The Drawstring Bag is designed for light to medium-weight solids or woven fabrics. I recommend using cotton sateen or a cotton blend fabric with a little structure for best results.
Avoid fabrics with elastane or spandex, especially if you’re a beginner, as they can be harder to sew.
You won’t be able to sew this bag in thicker fabrics like heavy denim or canvas, as they make it difficult to turn the ties and create bulky spots, which won’t work well for this design.
